After spending your whole life as a marginalized individual you start to limit yourself.  You adopt the stigma’s of society without even realizing what you are doing.  Remember, you can do more than you think you can.

If you look back through history you will find individuals that did something monumental that left an impression on society in some way.  Some of these monumental moments in time affected the world as we know it while other only affected a small number of people.  Neither of these monumental moments is more vital to life as we know it than the other.

One of the biggest facets these people had to face was Stigma.  They did something that no one else dared to do, many times they were labeled as ‘crazy’ or ‘insane’ by those around them but as time went on the contributions they made were recognized.  Unfortunately they never got to hear people say ‘sorry we didn’t support you’.

Galileo, Einstein, Mother Theresa, Newton, Watson, Gates, Zimmerman, the list goes on and on.  Each of them made vital contributions to the shaping of the world as we know it. Each of them did it using a combination of their skills, abilities, formal and informal education.

If some of the greatest figures in time could make such a huge contribution to our way of life than who is to say that you couldn’t do it either.  With an encouraging support network in place and a positive lifestyle then there is no reason that any of us can not be part of the next big monumental moment in time.

The only boundaries we have are ones we set.  It is good to set personal boundaries for safety, health, etc., but we do not have to set boundaries on our potential.  When a boxer throws a punch they do not throw their punch at the person they are fighting, they are actually throwing their punch at an area behind the person standing in their way.  That is the way that we should be in all area’s of our lives.

So starting today I challenge you that every time you do something to ask yourself, am I aiming to do what I know I can do? or am I going to push myself a little bit further today and do just a bit better, a bit more, a bit more thoroughly?
